What we store when you buy

When you buy KnockKnock we store:

• Your email address.
• Your order: its Dodo Payments checkout and payment references, its status, which form on our site you used, and when it was paid, delivered or refunded.
• Your license code.
• For each Mac you activate, the details listed in the Mac app section below.

Your card details go to Dodo Payments, never to us.

Why we store it

We use your email only to deliver your license and to help you when you contact us. We do not sell it, share it for marketing or add you to any list.

How long we keep it

• We keep your email, order and license code for as long as your license exists. A paid order is the only link between your payment and your code.
• A checkout that is never paid is deleted within 30 days, along with the email entered for it.
• You can ask us to remove your email at any time by writing to akhilmn18work@gmail.com. Your license code keeps working.
• We keep encrypted backups of our database for up to 30 days. A removed email can stay in a backup until that backup is deleted.

Who processes it

• Dodo Payments is the merchant of record. It takes your payment, handles sales tax and emails you your license code. It keeps its own records of your payment, so removing your email from our records does not remove it from theirs.
• Supabase runs the database that stores your order and license.
• Vercel hosts this website.

What the Mac app sends

KnockKnock detects knocks entirely on your Mac. Sensor data never leaves it.

When you activate your license, the app sends three things to our database at Supabase:

• Your license code.
• A SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware ID. The ID itself never leaves your Mac.
• Your Mac's name, as set in System Settings. This often includes your own name, like “Sam's MacBook Air”.

We keep these with your license code, along with when each Mac was activated and when it last checked in. After that the app sends only the code and the hash: about once a day when it starts, to check that your license is still valid, and when you deactivate a Mac.
